I'm sorry if this has already been stated/asked, but have you ever thought about creating a google homepage widget for YC, have something which displays X amount of latest threads, or has the shout box (obviously people would need to login to access this)?

I moved your thread since it seemed to be more of a general suggestion than a web programming question.

At any rate, this is a good idea and has great potential and if you keep your eyes open, you might find something like this in the near future

I tried to create a simple Gadget but it keeps saying "Not found" when trying to load the XML file on my personal homepage. Does this happen for anyone else?

You probably need to use the http protocol: http://www.youngcoders.com/fps_exter...0&items=active

The ajax sidebar uses a variation of this script.
