TV Show Episode Listings

Hey all,

I created a small application which grabs information about your favourite TV show and creates an episode listing for the show.

You can see the application in action here.

Information, examples and source available here.

Enjoy!

That's really cool Nick

What does "Prod #" mean?

You might want to HTML encode the HTML and URL encode the URL's because special characters (Lost: episode 62) don't appear properly for me

I've always wanted to create a fast-loading, simple online TV guide but none of the broadcasters make their schedule available as an RSS/XML feed here in the UK (no doubt to protect their unprotected information).

It's quite funny that I have the Sky Anytime application on my mobile and it loads and reloads the TV guide in milliseconds, yet Sky's online TV guide reloads the entire (bloated) page everytime you want to skip and hour or navigate downwards

Any chance of adding Family Guy by the way?

That looks really cool! How simple is it to add more shows? (Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, How it's Made, How Do The Do It, for just a few)

The prod. # is just the show identifier. I, too, noticed the Lost #62 character not showing up correctly. If you set your character encoding to ISO-8859-1, it displays fine. However, I'm going to make it so it displays in UTF-8.

It takes a couple seconds to add new shows. You just go to tv.com, find the show URL and copy it. Done.

I take it you're DOM scraping and not using some sort of feed by the way?

Regular expressions at the moment. I'm going to switch (or at least provide the option) for 'HTML Tidy' + 'Simple XML'.
