Want to learn php

I already know html and I see that i need to learn php to do any real cool things. I looked at a few tutorials but im still completly confused. In html you just code the whole thing within html files, but php seems different. Could someone tell me how to get started with php so i can start adding some php to my website.

-Thanks

Re: Want to learn php

I suggest you visit php.net to get a look at some of the coding and what it does. After you look at that, there are many different sites available with tutorials, scripts, etc. Just type 'php' into Google

But I would start out at PHP.net

Re: Want to learn php

Wait...have you installed PHP, Apache (or another server. Not needed if you have your own), and MySQL (or another database) yet? If not, you need to. By the way it sounds, you don't have PHP installed on your system yet.

Re: Want to learn php

A good host that allows you to use PHP is freeserverhost, however, they have recently installed a tiny banner ad at the top of every free page. That kind of wrecked a wonderful host.
