Simple Layout

Here goes another old tutorial

Quote:
This tutorial will not go to in depth about the features being used. However, it should be easy to follow.
1. Create a new picture with a width of 600 and a height of 500 with a transparent background.
2. Select the Rounded Rectangle Tool (image). If that tool is not appearing click and hold where it should be.
3. Make sure white is your forground color and create the shape about this (http://www.webjunky.us/tutorials/pho...ayout/pic1.gif) size. Right click the Shape 1 layer and right click. Select Rasterize Layer.
4. Have two grays (forefround: E8E8E8, background: CDCECD) and select the Gradient Tool (http://www.webjunky.us/tutorials/pho...ayout/pic2.gif). Select Radial Gradient (top toolbar). Now [CTRL + click] on the Shape 1 layer to select that layer.
5. Click and drag from the middle to the bottom left corner. (http://www.webjunky.us/tutorials/pho...ayout/pic3.gif).
6. Double click Shape 1 layer to come up with its blending options. Use these setting for Bevel (http://www.webjunky.us/tutorials/pho...ayout/pic4.gif) and these for Stroke (http://www.webjunky.us/tutorials/pho...ayout/pic5.gif).
7. Get your Rectangular Marquee Tool (selection tool) out and select the area you want for area your content then delete. Create a new layer without deselecting and fill it with a gray of your choice (mine is #D7D7D7) It should look like this (http://www.webjunky.us/tutorials/pho...ayout/pic6.gif).
8. Use this same technique to add your banner. Also add a toolbar if you wish to. A toolbar tutorial will be forthcoming.
My finished picture looks like this (http://www.webjunky.us/images/layout3.gif).
