I had twos choices, waste some money on a theme that could be used a week every year or instead give it away to one of our active members. It is clear which decision I have made.


The Competition
Post anything useful thread for the forum from now and up to Boxing Day and go into the draw to win 80$USD or be runner up with 40$USD.
You must be an active member (eg replying to other users's posts)
Your thread must have at least 5 replies (not including the OP).
I will then craft an SQL query that looks at these threads and picks the lucky thread.

The Rules
The decision is final, please no whining you will get your chance as YC ramps up competitions to be a frequent thing next year.
No advertisements or meaningless posts. I will deem what I helpful.
You will need PayPal.

For the lazy people it seems that Boxing day is the 26th of December according to Wikipedia.

This is a good idea, however some observations

• 5 replies? Most threads struggle to get 5 (meaningful) replies, not to mention that this is a quiet time of year.
• Can we see the SQL query you are using to be sure of its accuracy?

That said, I had planned to post a JavaScript thread later.

Obviously this will be cross referenced with those considered "active" deemed by the rules.

As for the 5 replies, hopefully those who wish to be considered "active" and thus be in the running would reply to other posts.

Hehe, not even this thread has five replies; I got the email and it seems like a good incentive for me to come back - I've been busy with school and I was only just considering coming back to post a new app that I'm working on when I received this. It sounds great (although I can't pretend that I've been active; I'll just have to become active).....

What do you consider "helpful" to the forum? I'd love to post something, but I don't know what to post...
